GERS PARDOEL - MET MIJ MEE
Gers Pardoel is a dutch musician known for his number one hit “Ik Neem Je Mee” and as a jury for The Voice Kids Belgium. His team approached me to make the visuals for his single “Met Mij Mee”. The video should feature his red Lada, a Russian oldtimer car Gers is very fond of and the lyrics of the song.

Since school, I’ve been a big fan of David Hockney, especially his earlier work. This California dreaming subject and pastel colours were perfect for this video. And since I’ve been practising in a similar style myself it was a perfect moment to use it. Specifically, I was inspired by the work of the Japanese artist Hiroshi Nagai.
CHALLENGES
While a painting is one static scene a video can be ever-changing. To take full advantage of this we played with different times of the day and see what effect they have on a single place. From night time to morning glory to the golden hour, they all have their own colour pallet. All making the same scenery look completely different.
